Grants will be awarded for various initiatives, such as: - Running state regrant programs for preserving and digitizing historical records. - Providing educational programs and workshops to engage citizens and students. - Offering scholarships and training for institutional growth, particularly for repositories in underserved communities. - Collaborating with other organizations to tackle shared challenges. - Hosting or joining meetings on archival issues at state or national levels.
Funding is available at two levels: Level I grants offer up to $12,000 for one year, while Level II grants provide up to $40,000 for one year or up to $80,000 for two years. The total available funding is approximately $800,000, with grants expected to start no earlier than January 1, 2020.
Eligibility for these grants is limited to state historical records advisory boards or the state agency overseeing the board, including those in the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and U.S. territories. Cost sharing is mandatory, with the NHPRC covering a maximum of 75% of the total project cost. Applicants must also be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and provide a valid DUNS number.
